I just bought an American Deluxe with a S-1 switch. I have heard there have been issues with this switch. Prior to me purchasing this guitar, I had never heard any complaints.

What are your experiences?

I also have read about some complaints but on the other hand some people have said it works great. I just picked up a guitar with one...I like it so far and you can get some interesting sounds by playing around with the S1 and tone knobs. But I haven't had the guitar long enough yet to know if I will have any problems with it.

My S-1 switch broke within 3 months of purchasing my 2008 Deluxe Strat. However, I didn't use the switch much so actual cycles of the switch were pretty low before it broke. Th S-1 sounds from my guitar (through a Deluxe Reverb RI) were muddy so I opted to have the Fender authorized repair shop put in a standard volume pot and wire the bridge pickup to the lower tone knob. I like the guitar much better now.
