I am going to buy a steel tremolo block for my MIM 60's strat and i wanted to know which would be better, a genuine Fender Steel block (PN:0019473000) or a GFS Steel block.

Both are about the same price.

Which one would be closer to the original blocks used in the 50's/60's?

Have you taken a magnet and checked to make sure that you don't already have a steel block in your guitar? Some MIMs do. If you do, don't waste your money.

Ok.

I have a GFS steel block in my MIM standard Strat. Works great.

Remember if you get the GFS block, do not get the Mexican block! Your Classic 60s has vintage American Spacing, so get that one. I have the GFS block and it is a big hunk of steel, its just not coated like the Fender block, which in my opinion is no big deal.

Yeah i knew that i needed USA spacing.

It's probably good that the GFS one has no paint since they remove it on the Eric Johnson sigs trem block.

Have you considered Kevin in Wales for his blocks. As good as they get.
