I love the bodies on these guitars as they have a thin nitro finsih and are reasonably priced. I am looking at buying one right now off Ebay and the guy says it is ash. I thought the Highway One has only been made in alder. The guy says the grain looks like ash as it can be seen in the neck pocket and through the finish. Can anyone help me out here?

I looked through all my literature and did not see any mention of Ash for bodies of HWY1's and I have never seen one...but sometimes Alder can have some pretty nice grain to it...my 82 '57 Reissue Strat is Alder but looks as though it is ash with the amount of grain showing through so I would say to the Ebay guy show me the proof in writing somewhere...JMO though.

Okay, thanks a lot for looking. I did not think it came in ash.

I once owned a Hwy1 in honey blonde (awesome guitar). The alder grain shown through the finish in a very subtle manner. It was a pleasure to own such a nice guitar.
