Went to an Eddie Money concert last nite and we leaned against the stage all nite,,,,,he's still rockin it.....great show. His guitarist was just amazing. Of course I was hyper focused on his playing, and his gear. All his Fender Strat guitars had some form of a single coil Seymour Duncan Hum in the bridge which he played almost entirely. Which Seymour do you guys recomend? Cool rails, hot rails. Does it matter that much? Whats most popular. Looking for a little help here. Thanks

Well then, you'll have to narrow it down to specifically what type of music you play, what type of pickups you have in the guitar now, what they ARE doing for you sonically and what they are NOT doing for you sonically.

Check out the Seymour Duncan Lil 59. I just put one in my Strat at the bridge and love it.

i second that or, you can go full throttle and put in a seymour duncan JB jr.
sweet pickup too. i paired mine off with fender CS 69ers in neck and middle.
the guitar now rocks better than ever.

I play classic rock and blues. As far as sonically and which guitar.....Well I have a couple options. My Eric Clapton Artist series is a possibility. I really love the noiseless p/ups. But I also have another strat that has the custom fat fifties. That could use a little help. the Hum drives me a lil nuts. So theyre both a consideration. Thanks for your replies....much appreciated....!

a strat with a 59er in it at the bridge, and one with the lil demon in it at the bridge.

JB Jr. in the bridge paired with two Hot Rails in the neck and the middle. It's the same pickup configuration as used on the Iron Maiden Stratocaster of 2001.

Personally, I'd go with the JB.

Ulnless you're an out and out heavy rocker, the afore mentioned Seymour Duncan 'lil'59 is a great match for standard Fender single coils in the neck and mid positions.

Make sure you have one of your tone pots set to the bridge p/up (a standard 250k will do fine, but I'm told it's worth experimenting with a 500k). You need to be able to wind a bit of treble off for a broad fat tone.

And of course, it will be a perfect fit in your guitar.

One word of warning - Seymour Duncan and Fender have different ideas about what colour the hot wire is. Wire up to the opposite of the existing Fender coils, or you will discover (as I quickly did!) that your new pickup will be out of phase in switch position 2..

One other thought - the 'lil'59 has 2 extra wires that you can completely ignore, or use to an added switch (tonepot switch maybe) for the ability to split the '59 when you want a single coil tone out of it. I didn't bother, but it does work. A bit like the newer Yamaha Pacificas..

Use 250K pots for best results. With any of the aforementioned Duncans, wire the black and bare wires to ground; solder the red and white wires together and insulate the solder joint; wire the green to the pickup selector switch.

I've had both the Lil 59 and the Jb Jr. in fact, I currently have my strat set up with the Seymour Duncan Everything Axe Package, which features a lil 59 in the neck, a duckbucker in the middle and the jb jr. in the bridge. The JB is breaks up easier at all frequencies while the 59 breaks up really well, but holds a "roundness" to the tone still.

The duckbucker might be my favorite pickup ever though. It has the coolest quack to it while not sounding cheap. It's lower output than the jb jr and the 59. the duckbucker is the coolest sounding pickup on tube amps, just sounds like an amazing notch position.
