I want to buy black pickup covers for a set of Noiseless pickups (which according to the dealer could only be delivered with white vintage covers). To cut a long story short, I found out the hard way that a standard set of Fender pickup covers doesn't match my Noiseless set. I found one site/dealer selling the correct covers:
http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/cove ... rstrat.htm
But the middle and neck covers are out of stock. One month ago I informed when they would be availabale and got this message "still in backorder at Fender". Untill now the site still mentions 'out of stock'.
Can anyone help me to get these (correct) covers?
I live in Belgium / Europe.

Thanks
Jo

Well which noiseless pickups are they?
You can change covers for hot or vintage noiseless. You can't change covers on SCN's. I don't know about N3's.

It's a set of hot noiseless pickups, with (easily) removable covers.

There is a way to change out the pickup covers on N3 pickups so you can use any standard strat pickup cover. It just takes a little doing. If you have N3s, let me know.

I would like to do this. It looks like the magnet holes don't line up. If there's a neat way to do this (without drilling holes in the pickup cover) I would like to know.

You can also change covers on the SCNs.
The covers are certainly deeper than your regular pickup though which in part is due to the fact that the coils are stacked
It just takes a little more care.
Note though that Fender do not recommend the removal of any of the noiseless type pickup covers since they are fairly tightly packed have a light adhesive holding the cover and removal could damage the wires so there is some risk involved. :D

He speaks the truth, listen (or in this case "read")
I wanted black covers for my noiseless as well,
tried 'em,
didn't fit,
put the old ones back on,
broke winding on two of the pick-ups in the process.

Hi there,
I have a American Strat Deluxe SSS with two black N3 (neck and middle), and a cream one at the bridge. Anyone know how I can change the cover on the type of pickup? jbielefeld?

So before doing my research, I attempted to replace the covers on my Vintage Noiseless pickups with the standard black Fender pickup covers. As you can see in the pic, the standards are too tall, and none of the poles are exposed enough. While this may not be too much of an issue, it doesn't look all that cool. I've bought some black cloth pickup coil tape. I'm going to wrap the pickups and see how they look bare, since the core plastic is black, anyway. Whether or not I decide to stick with that route, I will post a pic so y'all can see how it looks when I'm done.
Here is a before pic:

Yep difficult to procure the original black covers.
If you must have black there are unmarked fender vint noiseless pickups on the bay for $40 USD each :D

exactly what I did. I put a tortoise pickguard on my strat with noiseless pickups, and realized the extra covers I had would not fit. took the pickguard to my local home depot, found a color that matched, and I am all set. looks better than the white ones.

Took the covers off, but bought some black cloth pickup tape. I'm not sure if you can tell in the pics, but there are some shiny spots on the pickups. That's the transparent tape from the factory that they use to cover the winding. They overlap the tape all the way up to the top and some parts even cover the poles. Other than that, I am pretty happy. The black cloth tape will keep the windings protected while playing, and I will take an X-acto knife to the edges of the pickup to remove the transparent tape at the top. I will do that at a later date, because right now, it doesn't affect fit, form, nor function. It would still be nice to have some black pickup covers that fit, but this will do for now.

There is some stuff called vinyl/leather dye which comes in spray cans. I did my sons Nerf gun with a can and the results were spectacular. It does seem to etch itself into the surface and is very hard wearing as a result.

Spray painting plastics otherwise is generally very tricky as, without a good etching primer the paint just falls off. This vinyl dye stuff couldn't be easier.
