Hi all,

I've recently bought my classic players strat and have noticed the neck plate is plain as opposed to the custom plate. Does anyone know if this is a common thing?

Cheers

Jon

Perhaps, or perhaps not. It is not a custom guitar, it's more like a production guitar. The classic series, another production run of guitars, has smilar hardware of it's intended era. Classic players strats have some differences to there intended era more noticable are the tremolo and pickups.

I'm pretty sure the Classic Players 50's should all have the "Custom Shop Designed" inscribed neck plate. I just checked mine and it has the inscribed neck plate. My CP 50's was made in 2006..

Also, I checked Fender's specs on this site and here's what it says are unique features of the CP 50's:

Unique Features: Aged Knobs and Switch Tip, Vintage Style Locking Tuning Machines, "Custom Shop Designed" Neck Plate, Vintage Style 2-Point Synchronized Tremolo, 9.5" Radius, Synthetic Bone Nut

Sounds like you have a Classic Series 50's strat instead of a classic player series. Nothing to worry about UNLESS you paid the higher price for a Classic Player Series! ;) If you bought it from a reputable store, they really should have known the difference.
