My upper strap hook on my 99 AmStd strat has recently come loose. I can take a screwdriver, and tighten it back up, but after a few hours of playing it's just loose again.

What is the best way to tighten it back up? I had a friend of mine suggest taking the screw out, applying some wood glue or Elmer's in the hole, letting it dry, and replacing the screw. Is this a good idea?

It's easier to just take the screw out, but some wood glue on it , screw it back in and let the glue dry. Use regular Elmers not the heavy duty stuff, you may want to be able to get the screw out someday.

Another way would be to take out the screw and put a toothpick in the hole, then screw in again - this should tighten up the screw and stop it coming out again.

Actually, it's both....

Dip a toothpick or two in white glue, and stick them in the hole. Break them off flush and let the glue dry.

NOW run the screw into the guitar. Should last for years.
