Ok, now that I've got the age of my guitar figured out, I wanted to find out if the wiring of my pickups is correct. Especially the tone controls. Here is how they are currently wired:

Bridge - Both Tone controls are bypassed
Bridge/Middle - 2nd Tone control only
Middle - 2nd Tone Control only
Neck/Middle - Both Tone Controls
Neck - First Tone Control

Guy I bought the guitar from says he didn't change the wiring at all and he's the original owner. Anyway, this is the first strat I've played where the Bridge pickup Tone control was bypassed. Gonna take a little time to get used to. However, I'm considering getting all new wiring and and pots from RS Guitarworks and have it wired to my liking.

That is the way a strat is meant to be wired.

I have a couple of strats where the bridge and middle pickup share the lower tone control and in truth, I don't like the sound of it. The Bridge/Mid in parallel sounds wrong on those guitars.
I went to the lengths of stripping the S1 switching out of my Custom Shop Strat and replacing it with proper wiring. So now it's just like yours.

Wow, I never knew that is how they are supposed to be wired. Over the years I've owned about 6 different strats and they all were setup with the bridge and middle pickup sharing the lower tone control. So naturally I thought the Paisley was wired wrong.

From 54 right up to 1980 Strats were wired that way. I wouldn't ever say it's the most versatile or best way to wire a strat. Just that it's not wrong. The bridge tone control (and 5way switch) are quite modern amendments.
For as much as I love the sound of my vintage wired guitar's bridge and middle position. I have 3 others with modern wiring.
Both have their uses and my preference matters to no one outside my skin. If you prefer modern wiring it's not hard to change it. Literally add one wire.

That tiny length of wire will cost you about 3 pence.

I don't doubt that it's not wrong. It's just different from any strat I've ever played, of course I never played a strat that was older than 1985. I also realize that due to personal taste, there is no right or wrong when it comes to a pickup wiring configuration. Heck, I have a Les Paul with a Jimmy Page wiring configuration that gives me 21 different tones!!! Though, I've never actually used more than 5 of those tones in any real life playing situation. :o

I've only had this Paisley strat for a short while so I'm still getting used to it. I love the neck, it's fits in my hand perfectly and a real pleasure to play. The guitar is so light, such a relief from my heavy Les Paul. And of course, the finish is super cool. But I'm really not bonding with the pickups, yet. I don't think that has anything to do with the wiring except I would like to have some control over the tone of the bridge pickup. Overall, for clean tones, the pickups are great but for the overdriven stuff, I'm just not very pleased. And these pickups seem to be very noisy. That single coil hum seems to be more pronounced than on any strat I've owned before. I admit, I could just be imagining that.

So I may be switching out the pickups but I'm gonna give it a little more time as is. It could just be that I haven't found the right combination of pedal and amplifier tweaks that work best with this guitar.
