I recently just bought a 1960 reissue strat it is a 1997 crafteed in japan from what the serial # marks it as. The only thing is it has 1 black seymour duncan at the bridge. I at first thought it was just custom and they had put it in but have recently seen a few of the these guiltars. I was hoping somone might have some information on this. Was wondering if this was a model only made for japan. Well any info would help.

A photo would help. You could remove the pickguard and see if somebody routed the body out for a humbucker (I take it that's what you mean by a Seymour Duncan). If it's a single coil sized pickup then it would be hard to say unless there is something obviously non-factory under the pickguard.

I'm not aware of a '60 CIJ Strat reissue-'60s (as in Sixties) or a '62 CIJ Strat reissue, yes. Again, this is another good reason why Fender needs to put out a Fender Japan book!

SD makes a strat sized humbucker, the Lil Screamin Demon. It's pretty hot.

OH yeah! Big time agreement on the Fender Japan resource book, list, webpage....something!!!

I found that in the late 90's Fender CIJ's were made in 62 and 67 RI's.
As far as I know none came stock with SD pickups, so someone added that on their own.

Sorry if I confused anyone, I hadn't forgotten about the SD Lil' Screamin' Demon-but if someone says Seymour Duncan generically, I think humbuckers.

The MIJ/CIJ Fenders give me fits sometimes as far as the models they offered. My copy of the 1993 Fender 'full range' guitar catalog listed the '67 Strat RI as a '68 RI, at least in the U.S. I have two MIJs (neck dates of '89 and '90), and the neck/neck pocket stamps indicate it as a '67 RI. This is the one with the 'transition' headstock decal, not the heavy black decal of current '68 RIs. Weird if not frustrating.
