Hello all, I would aprreciate some help with a MIM trem.

Couple of questions

Should the trem arm be sitting loose (hanging down), and grabbed to play, or snug where it is facing the headstock?

Reason I ask, I think I overwound mine. The trem had alot of play in it when i got the guitar. I wound this to tighten, and then moved to easy grasp to play. After playing, I always tighten a little so the arm doen't hang down when on the stand. now there seems to be even MORE play on the arm.

Did I break it?

If so, can i fix it?

i know the post was confusing, any input is appreciated!!!

Try putting some plummer tape on the screw of the arm and screw back in. That should solve the give in the arm. I let my trem arm hang loose when playing, seems to stay in tune better.

Keep rockin!

This sounds like a spring issue. If you've tightened the arm all the way up, then you've probably compressed that spring too much and now it doesn't have the same amount of tension as it use to. Take the spring out and try to stretch it a little. You might could use another spring.

I don't have springs in either of mine. I like the arm to hang down loosely. It's out of the way then.
