i have heard this but it seems somewhat far fetched because it seems the little strings part of the fret are always the fastest to wear and little strings would puncture the frets more and you would use more pressure since there little. what am i missing here? does anyone have experience with this?

i started with 9's and switched to 10's a few years ago
for the 10 years of playing my guitar does not have fret wear
or maybe only the most minimum
however when i was playing 9's, my freting hand fingers wear a lot
after i changed to 10's this problem was solved

Yes they will, very fast. Also depending on how hard you play. When I first started to go to big strings,I noticed my frets were denting up fast. They will especially wear faster if you've got the small vintage frets.

You can tell in this pic that my guitar is due for a fret job. I've also went to even bigger strings since this picture was taken.

A lot depends on your touch when playing too. A lighter touch will make your frets last longer.

fret wear is more about how you play rather than what strings you use.
i play on 9's, and I wear frets down super fast. its because i really dig the string into the frets when i play, especially when i bend.

it can also depend on what the frets and strings are made of. different metals react differently to each other, and will cause fast breakdown. but on fender guitars, you shouldn't have a problem with this, cause they use decent fretwire.
