Can somebody tell me what pickups came stock in a 1993 57 reissue strat? Is there room for improvement? If so, recommendations?

The '57 Reissues have all came with the same pickup up set...the 57/62 Vintage Reissue pickups...I have an 82 '57 reissue and love the tone of those pickups...they pretty much nail the tone I was looking for and have never found a need to change them out or do any mods to the guitar either.

I think doing the reissues was one of the best moves FMIC ever did...Along with reissueing the Bassman, Twin, Deluxe, Deluxe Reverb, Super Reverb...etc.,

Of course you could switch them over to some of the custom shop pickups, I hear good things about the CS '54 reissue pickups as well as the CW '69's.

Actually that isn't 100% true - Fender did revamp the pickups slightly in 1998 when they did things like correct the 12th fret spacing, etc. However, I don't think there was a huge change in the tone of the pickups; I believe it was just to make them a bit more "authentic" cosmetically - things like beveled polepiece pickups, wiring color, other things like that.

Take that with a grain of salt - I've played a few of the older USA reissues but I have only owned post-1998 ones personally - but to me the older version and the current version sound the same.

I stand corrected. Yes they did change the pickups in 98, but those were cosmetic changes like you said and I have played some post 98's and the sound was the same to my ears too.

The one change that wasn't cosmetic was putting the V shape to the neck, that was the only real feel change to me...the V was pretty close to the V on the Clapton model but maybe a little thicker.
