Are you using these on a guitar, or for lapsteel? If you are using them on a guitar, how do they sound? I like those gauges... they seem pretty awesome.... I use 12,16,24p,32,44,56 ...... I find the 12 is too light on top though.... maybe these strings would suit me better lol

They sound great, their basically just regular guitar strings, that's all a steel guitar is anyway, the tuning and pickups is usually what makes a steel sound different. Their gauges are labeled by the tuning that steel players use, if it's a tight tuning then the gauge naturally get's bigger. They sound just a little warmer then Ernie Balls (which is one of the things I loved about'em). When I was trying to find big strings the hardest thing for me was always trying to find those 1st three strings that were as big as I wanted. That's when I came across these, thanks to my dad learning the steel guitar, hehe.

Actually those "Ernie Ball Not even Slinkies" is what I was using just a few months ago (whenever I could find'em, but usually I just always bought singles to get the gauges I wanted). I would just substitute that 24p for something else, usually a 19 was the biggest I could find. That's a good set for rhythm players. It's just that that 24p is impossible to bend, not to mention sounding dead as a door nail. Hence the name "NOT EVEN SLINKY".

My band actually tunes down a whole step and I can bend the 24p quite comfortably lol..... but yes it goes dead sooo fast :S..... I've never seen those strings around that you use.... but I'd like to try a set.... I play lapsteel as well.... I could kill to birds with one stone and buy the same strings for both lol

How about you?

27 years with Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys. I'm sure I've tried all of the major brands. When I'm in a rush and don't have time to think about it I'll blurt out to the sales clerck "Regular Slinkys please." If they don't know what I'm talking about they don't deserve to be there.

DR Pure Blues 10's. Every once in a while it seems like I get a "dead" set, but I love the sound and feel when they're right.

DR 11-52's,Ernie Ball pure nickel 11-48's,D'Adarrio's pure nickel 11-48's.Maybe I need to learn to be gentler, but I break io's too easily.9's?My new Strat came with 9's and I broke the little E about 5 minutes after I got it.I like the pure nickels because they have a mellower sound, and are easier on the frets.

I go for either D'addario EXL110's (Nickel Plated) for a great all around sound, but will also use DR Pure Blues 10's as the feel of the DR's is GREAT. The sound on the DR's tend to be a bit more vintage to my ears though... When it comes to laying on high gain, the D'addario's have a smoother distorted sound than the DR's do.

I think I've been using EXL110's for 15 years - you can't go wrong. I despise Ernie Balls AND Fender Bullets - how can you guys use those things?

I talked to Peter D'addario at NAMM one year and told him about how long I've used EXL110's. He gave me about a 2 year supply for free. Nice.

Has any one tried out those Dean Markley Blue Steel strings? They got excellent ratings on zzounds.com

I'm wondering if there really that good or its just a lot of hype.

"Blue Steel strings are frozen to minus 320 degrees Fahrenheit, held there for an exact period of time and then slowly and carefully brought back to their original temperature. This unique Cryogenic treatment realigns the molecular structure of the string, giving Blue Steel more highs and lows, a longer life, and greater ability to stay in tune"
