Hey Guys

I'm travelling to L.A. in a fortnight and was wanting to buy an American Special Strat ($800).

Can anyone give me the name of a good dealer/shop in the L.A. area that has a good name and range/stock of Strats?

Cheers ... Dave

Well for a sure shot at the AM Special, The Guitar Center in L.A. will most likely have one there for $799.00 New In The Box (with a gig bag) http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Amer ... 1502368.gc Oh, I guess it went up in price $50.00 since I bought mine, (Excuse us,our economy in the U.S. is still being robbed) Expect to pay another $120.00 for the SKB Fender Case.http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-SKB- ... 1491904.gc OK, that price dropped $11.00 so you'll win there. Anyway, Sherman Oaks and West L.A. seem to have them in stock. Go there, get it over with, Then do some sightseeing. Enjoy your trip to L.A. Lovely place in general. 8)

Guitar Center and Sam Ash are the two largest sellers in L.A. If you do an online search at their websites, you can see which of their stores have one in stock. Marvin gave you two in the last post. There's hundreds of independent guitar shops but you'll spend most of your vacation stuck in L.A. traffic trying to find what you want. I can tell you from my 4 week search to find the perfect strat that a lot of shops don't seem to be stocking much, especially the higher priced guitars. Good luck and enjoy L.A., it's a good place to visit. :D

Thanks for the heads up ... I'll check out the Guitar Centre/Sam Ash soon after we arrive in L.A.

Can't wait to bring that baby home!

Cheers ... Dave

call these stores when you get into town:

Greyson's Tune Town
Address. 2415 Honolulu Ave. Montrose. CA. 91020
Phone. 818.249.0993 Fax. 818.249.7387
Hours: M-F 10 AM – 7 PM Sat 9 AM - 5 PM
Sun – closed
ask for Ken - The owner or Sam - Best Tech around!

California Vintage Guitar and Amp
5244 Van Nuys Boulevard, Sherman Oaks, CA 91401 • Voice: 818.789.8884
ask for Dan he's the owner.

Guitar Center Hollywood ask for Cat. He's always treated me well.

You could always check out True Tone in Santa Monica too. But I won't go to the work of getting you their info since I dislike the store. They do have a lot of guitars though. Check the internet.

West L.A. music in West LA is also ok.

I've bought from all of these dealers. 1st 3 are my favorites.

I would try McCabe's in Santa Monica. Cool little place with a really cool vibe. I bought a used 6 string bass in great condition for $240 once and I didn't even grind them. Website: http://www.mccabes.com/#holidays

I didn't even know Greyson's Tune Town was still around. I guess I kind of assumed they went out of business. That's a cool little place with a decent selction too.

McCabe's is great for acoustics but their Fender selection is very slim. Grayson's been around since the 50s! They've been in business a long time. It's a family business and they always seem to have rickenbackers.

When I was still a bass player, I remember being in awe of a Rick bass in there! First maple fretboard I ever played. I was in absolute heaven.
