I want to do some work on my 2006 MIM Strat, I like the feel of the action the neck is a perfect fit for me. I'm just not crazy about the sound. I want to get that real stratocaster sound "quack". Any suggestions about what would be the best pups I should get and do you think I should change the pots as well?

If your MIM is a Classic '50s, '60s, or '70s re-issue, your pots (and switch) should be fine for an upgrade to any traditional single-coil pickup set. The MIM Standards use a cheaper grade of electronics which may or may not serve your purposes.

Most single-coils are optimized for 250k pots while humbuckers generally work best with 500k. Fender's Vintage Noiseless set require 1M pots (which are included in the set).

As for traditional "quack" you have many options with Fender's single-coils: The CS '54 set, the Fat '50s (one of my personal favs), the 57/62's, the CS '69s, and the Texas Specials.

Only your ears will tell you what's best for your playing style.

Best of luck, HTH

Thanks Arjay,
This is just my dilemma, Look at how many you have suggested. I don't think it's a vintage reissue but I just don't know. I picked it up used and I think the previous owner did some mods himself but I'm not sure. Maybe I should take some pictures of it and you guys could tell me what I have.

That would be a big help, sir. Let us take a look to see where you're starting from.
