Does anybody have any experience with 80's strats?

I hear alot of 60's & 70's garner alot of praise, but I seldomly hear anything about 80's fenders. I offered him 640. It also comes with a hardcase. You think its a good idea?

The reason you don't hear much about the 80's is that those were bad years fro Fender. They had to work pretty hard to restore the quality that CBS had let go of completely. It wasn't until the late 80's early 90's that Fender started making a good comeback quality wise.

That Strat you've got there is an 89 or 90 model. I'm guessing a Strat Plus Deluxe. Here's one on Ebay with a serial number just 67 guitars before yours: http://cgi.ebay.com/1989-Fender-Stratoc ... dZViewItem

I'd say if you like the feel and tone of it, then $640 is a good price for that.

Explain? Sorry this will be my first Floyd Rose. I normally would never buy a guitar with one, however an american strat for this price why not i figure.

**Edit** I just noticed that the one you pictured does indeed have one, sorry, my computer screen is very dark.

My experience with guitars with out a string guide (I don't actually know what they're called) on the longer strings behind the nut (At the bottom, the G, B, E strings) might buzz annoyingly. Look at this pic compared to the one you have to know what I mean. It might just be me being superstitious, but yea, just make sure it plays nicely. Any guitar that feels good to you will be a good purchase. Image[/b]

I am surprised the guy did'nt take your money on the spot. I have an 89 E913729 and I don't care for the space age nut which seems to have come and gone. I bought mine new for $600. Save your money.
