If it's not affecting the tone of the guitar, I'd suggest that you don't do too much to the pole pieces as far as buffing/grinding goes.
I just remembered that a friend of mine used to melt down wax and put a very thin layer on his pickups to prevent corrosion. If climate is the cause of the problem, that may at least help with the pole pieces rusting. Sorry I don't have too many ideas for you. Hope you figure something out.

================================================
a tad paranoid/stupid dont you think?

i have consistantly said my fender tele was not effected as well, so i'd suggest you *read* things properly and be sure you know what your saying is 100% correct before making accusations.

anyway, i joined the site to ask about the squire rock band guitar for use as a sequencer controller, i just thought i'd ask if anyone else had a problem with the deluxe hss strats 2.

check the dates if you feel you have 2, oh wait that might be a cover

seems you guys will believe anything no matter how rediculous so that fender remains untarnished. why cant you just use your brain and admit this brand has flaws just the same as every other brand has flaws? (not that i have ever blamed fender for this issue - go check if you have to )

this rust issue as i have already said is not going to change my opinion of fender guitars - it's true what they say - once a fender guy always a fender guy, once a gibson guy always a gibson guy.

Its just there has been alot of troll activity on the site lately. I also said sorry if this wasn't the case. Also I did read the whole thread. Post some pic of the rust I would like to see it. I have never seen frets rust before. Im just curious. I have 13 guitars and none have any rust on them anywhere but I don,t store them in their cases either. As for name calling I am neither paranoid or stupid. You seem to alittle defensive. Hope you cure your problem.

And you don't think someone wouldn't be defensive especially after the first reply to a question basically making out I was some kind of moron for using my fender guitar case?

I will defend myself, especially after simply *asking* a question.

I will try to take a photo of it, all i have is my mobile, wait a sec.

ps i never called you stupid or paraniod i was saying the behaviour of thinking i was a troll was. a good example of being defensive. clearly none of you like me for asking this question, so be it, i don't give a toss.

9 or 10 months old, it looks worse than what the photo shows, that's why there was no point in monkeying around trying to get a photo of the discoloured frets as the light shining masks it. however i can feel the roughness when i bend strings up close to the body.

i'll just have to get the frets filed.

I would contact the store where I bought it, theres obviously something wrong. I thought frets were stainless steel which wouldn,t rust. Thats ashame that is happining. How about the tuners and the neck plate. I would go to where I bought it and $@!&* about it. Contact fender and see what they have to say. That would drive me crazy looking at it.

Really hard to tell, but that doesn't look like rust to me. Especially given your statement that it didn't come off after polishing with a Dremel tool. Frets do tarnish with use and time. I use this to keep them shiny:

I can,t see pole pieces or frets tarnishing like that on a new guitar. I say somethings wrong.

doesn't tarnishing take a long time though? i don't mind the guitar getting character but there's too much character happening on the the one pickup!

all i used was the fender shammy thing with nothing on it - so i cant see how there can be some kind of chemical reaction. i didn't recieve the full care kit along with the guitar from thomann, so it couldn't be the fender cleaning spray - as i didn't get any :p

tbazz, i'm not that bothered about the look of the guitar, i resigned quite a while ago to this turning into a working guitar. i just haven't gigged with it yet. i would have liked to have kept it pristine, but there is no point now.

i just wondered if this was a inherant problem, seems it isn't so i don't need to watch which fender models i buy in the future.

ps, so i'm guess if this is not rust, oil wont prevent this from worsening?

Nobody seems to be having the same problem as you.

Your problem is so unusual as to have nothing to do with FMIC.

And Retroverbial deserves more respect. He's well informed and a cool guy.

perhaps you should go and jack him off?

and you're right, he has a master degree in rust, and moisture in case analysis

and without asking any real information of me, he had blamed this entirely on me and my stupidity

i guess i must have pissed on my humbucker when i was drunk or something

ps mistakes do happen during manufacture, numpty, i also know for a fact outlets such as thomann check the guitar and polish them up after recieving them from the supplier.

there are lots of things that can go wrong, but your blinkered god, drew all his breath and blamed me unashamedly.

i don't respect the guy, no one so closed minded deserves respect in my opinion :)
