Mike,
My guitars are stock, I have thought about mods, but never got around to it. I went to your music page and really like some of the things I heard on a quick look/listen. Hoping to visit it when I have more time, are playing on all the songs there?

Both my strats are stock. If I didn't like them stock, I wouldn't have bought them.

Thanks filerj, much appreciated! Yeah, most are what I call "b stock" tunes from song challenges and collabs with some jams and solo stuff.

My "a list" stuff is private and some under contract.

I purged most of those tracks on SC in '07, and I should probably purge again
pretty soon. I'm not afraid to try anything on keyboards or guitars, sometimes they
work, sometimes not. Thanks again for your kind comment!

I've never seen a Stratocaster from the "modern era" that had specs I could live with -- there's always a deal-killer somewhere within.

I'll never buy an off-the-rack guitar again. Arjay

Let me think. The last two Fenders I bought off the rack were a chrome red American Series and an amber HSS Highway 1 (5 1/2 and 5 years ago, respectively, wow, Time Flies).

I put a pearloid pickguard on the Am Ser (a purely cosmetic improvement). I put Graph Tech saddles on the HWy1 (a functional improvement).

Pretty modest mods, so I guess off the rack doesn't bother me that much, as I'd have to say Fender is probably making the highest quality guitars it ever has.

All stock here too.

Fender Highway One Stratocaster:
- 3-Tone Sunburst / Maple
- Fender Hot Alnico III Pickups
- Fender/Ping Tuners

Fender FSR LTD American Standard Stratocaster:
- Mercedes-Blue / Maple
- Fender Texas Specials Pickups
- Fender 'F' Locking Tuners

Many people complains about the Fender/Ping tuners, but they work well for me even with vigorously tremolo use, they just need to be tighten a little more after you restring the guitar. When one of them fails me I´ll think about Schallers on it.

Perhaps I'm not as picky because I am used to vintage Fenders.

Thus my quality comment.

No offence, but your stuff is cheap.

Your strats aren't even Fenders.

Your teles are Squires.

Your les Pauls aren't Gibsons

I see a red Fender Strat.

And your point being? FYI - the red strat is a Fender Jimmie Vaughan.

I like my American Standard Strat because it sounds & feels like a Strat. I have no plans at all of changing anything. When I buy a guitar or an amp, I buy it because I like it enough NOT to change it.

On the flip side, if I bought an entry level Strat with cheaper electronics, maybe I'd upgrade the pickups. But that leads me back to where I started my reply. I just saved up enough $$$ for the American Strat because that's what I wanted.

I play through a Stock Peavey Classic 50 & absolutely love the amp & Strat together.

Thejakeludwig, just because you preface some statement with "no offense"doesn't necessarily mean that none will be taken. It's way out of order to put down someone's gear and pass it off as cheap.I have 2 non-Gibson Les Pauls and I'd stack them up against a Gibson any day for quality, playability and tone.A person's choice or gear is purely subjective and just maybe the O.P. fell in love with these guitars while trying others. When bought my last MIM Strat I tried several MIA Strats too and money was no object at the time and I still picked the MIM because that was the one that spoke to me even though it was among the cheapest, the same goes for my Epi Les Pauls.

No offense but it seems that you've put a few noses out of joint lately and maybe you should reread and reconsider what you've printed before you hit the "Submit" box.
