I'm not sure if I asked you this before, but I noticed that you list a '04 50th Annv. Amercan Series Strat on your list of guitars.

I own one and love it. What are your thoughts?

Sorr in advance if I've asked this question before. I was born without a short term memory.

Here's my little guitar collection for you to critique. None of them are stock. Bet you can't guess what they even are. I'll give you a hint: three of them are red and one isn't.

lol Bluesky, is that an Ibanez Gio with TV Jones Filtertrons?!?!?

i got a Gio body and neck for free, a while ago, I was considering giving it a funky paint job and throwing a Powertron in it (its a HB-S-S config, so i still have to think about what if any single coils to use.)

I love the idea of a cheapo, but playable guitar with a heavy duty electronics upgrade. Seriously considering lace sensors and the Clapton boost in my Squire Mini.

Close.

It is an Ibanez GIO. I won it in the "12 Days of Ibanez" on-line contest before Christmas. :D The pickups are GFS Recotrons, GFS's version of Filtertrons. They really sound great, really chimey. The guitar as won was all black. Very depressing looking, though it played nice. I replaced the cheap pots and switch with CTS pots, Orange Drop cap, a CRL 3-way switch, chrome bridge (soon to replace the cast saddles with stainless steel saddles), and chrome GFS locking tuners. The neck is really nice and she plays very well. Her name is "Black Beauty".

The red guitar to BB's right is a "Lyon by Washburn" (Washburn's Squire). I picked her up (her name is "Little Red") for $55.00 at a local guitar show. I replaced the bridge (stainless steel saddles), the pickups are GFS Vintage 59 Alnico V humbuckers. Electronics were replaced with CTS pots, Orange Drop caps, and Gibson/Switchcraft 3-way switch. The tuners are GFS locking tuners. The pickups are nice and thick with great drive, especially the bridge.

The red bass (named "Deep Red") is a Yamaha bass, circa mid 90's (I forget the model number) and was given to me by my next door neighbor, along with the little Crate bass amp, both for free. The pickup is a GFS P-Bass Alnico Vintage Pro. Electronics are CTS pots and Orange Drop cap.

To keep all this Fender related, the Strat is a CAR 2009 MIM Standard Strat (her name is "Big Red") that I bought myself last year for my 56th birthday. She has Fender SCN pickups, CTS pots and Orange Drop caps, CRL 5-way switch (do we detect a pattern), with the Greasebucket tone circuit on the bridge and neck pickups. The tuners are Schaller locking tuners. Bridge saddles are stainless steel.

Wow ppl here are way too sensitive. Sorry, I wasn't "bashing" anyones gear. I just express my personal opinions on things. If it doesn't say "Fender" on the headstock I don't bother playing it!!! Fender Rocks and They make great guitars. If I had to choose one of that bunch I'd pick the red one. I find that red guitars seem to have more bass though. Peace

Let's see, a couple Eastman's, a couple Larrivee's, a couple Fender's.. :?: a J.B. Player, a Yamaha, and an Artesano...

Nice family you have there! Are you a violin player? That's one of my favorite instruments.

Yes,.. but that is an endeavor in itself as I'm still learning even after 5 years.
I must admit that most of the wild life has finally returned within a mile radius of my house...

LOL, i took about 5-6 lessons on violin but gave it up. I should try again. When I played the cats all ran down to the basement.

That Ampeg has been through a lot these past 3 months, so I'm glad to have her back (though the tremelo still doesn't work... )

Very nice. Is that at CVC tele? Those are great guitars. I also like your pedal board, lots of creative folks on here.

Yes. It is bamboo. I bought it at a local discount shop for $19.00. It is very hard wood, but fairly light. It works great.

Hi Paris,Re the 50th Ann. Strat: I just love it,the action and neck were set up just perfect right from the box and the pickups are just delicious sounding. My only haggle is with the tone controls the rear tone control also affects the bridge pickup whereas I prefer the vintage set up for the tone controls with the bridge pickup unaffected by the controls.

So disconnect the bridge pickup. Its a one-wire jumper on the switch.

The way i see it i got a three hundred dollar guitar that goes toe to toe with any fender or gibson
