Hey!

Glad to hear you've chosen to by a Fender, ESPECIALLY a Strat!
So you've checked out, what I assume, is the Standard Strat made in mexico. I have one and I have to say it is a great guitar for every player. From beginner to pro, it's easy to play, sounds good stock, and it's not too expensive.

Regarding "humbucking", a HUMBUCKER is a type of pick-up. The reason it's called a humbucker is because it actually cancels out something called 60-cycle hum that singles coils suffer from. Unlike a single coil, a humbucker has a much thicker sound and usually has more output.
On the Standard stratocaster, you have two pickup arrangements to choose from. SSS and HSS. SSS is three single coils and HSS is a humbucker in the bridge position and two single coils.

Having a humbucker will allow you to have a much thicker tone when you switch to the bridge pickup. This is great if you want clean, classic strat tones with the extra kick of a humbucker for solos or heavier music.

So one last thing,
TRY!!!
Try as many guitars as you can that are in your price range and try them with an amp as similar, if not exactly the same as the one you have or are planning to get. Just pick them up and see how they FEEL, how they SOUND clean, with overdrive and distortion(if that's your thing) and don't be afraid to leave the store without buying anything. If you don't like any of the guitars there, go to a different music store and try more guitars!

A guitar is something that you're investing in and is something you should be happy with for as long as possible, if not forever, so why not take the time to find the one that makes you the happiest?

So which ever guitar you choose, I hope you enjoy it! =)

Happy playing!

~E.R.A.
