So after endless amounts of research and spending the better part of yesterday and today driving to every guitar shop within 50 miles of my house to play as many Strats as I could I finally settled on a brand new '50's Sunburst Road Worn Strat.

The following is a list of the Guitars I played and the way I rated them, per my opinion, obviously. I rated them 5 to 1 (5 being good and 1 being not so good) on Feel, Sound, Look, Cost. I played everything out of a bare bones basic Marshal amp b/c thats what I have at the house.

'50's Road Worn (5,3,5,5) = 18
American Vintage '57 (5,5,4,2) = 17
Eric Clapton ($900 on Craigs List) (5,3,4,4) = 16
American DLX V Neck (5,3,3,4) = 15
Road Worn Players (2,5,4,5) = 16
Highway One (2,4,4,5) = 16
American DLX V Neck (5,3,3,4) = 15
American Special (2,5,4,4) = 15
Eric Johnson (4,4,4,2) = 14
American Standard (2,4,3,4) = 13

So anyway, got the Road Worn for $650 out the door from a local mom and pops store. What sucks though is the one he had in stock someone already put a deposit on so he had to order me another one. Wont get in for a week or so, but, while I wait I get to decide what Im gonna swap the PUPS out with, since that was the only thing on the guitar I wasnt thrilled about. Thinkin of gettin either Texas Specials, Fat 50's, Custom '69's, Custom '54's or what I would love to do is have someone set it up like David Gilmour's Black Strat.... again the options are limitless....

Thanks again for everyones input!!!!

Yeppers!!! I agree. Why buy a new one when in the 1990 s Fender built some great guitars like the Plus, Ultra, Lone Star, or c
Clapton!!!!
