I was looking at the Fender web site and certain online retailers. I noticed that the MIM Strats (Classic Series 60 and Classic Series 50) are available in the vintage colors, such as Shell Pink, Daphne Blue, Lake Placid Blue, etc. Why can't Fender make the American Standard Stratocasters available in those colors? As it is, you have to pay quite a bit for these on the FSR guitars such as the 57 and 62 Strats, and that's if you can even find one! I know that I can't be alone in wanting Strats in these colors, especially the American Strandards. Am I alone in this or are there other players out there that would like these to be available as well. I can understand an extra cost, as long as it's not outrageous. Is there a way to make this known to Fender. I don't have anything against their current colors, other than the fact that I don't find them appealing. Maybe the younger players do... I don't know. But for people of my generation (40 and up), there's a nostalgia to these older colors, especially since I remember them. I don't think there would be a shortage of people who would buy them either (we are the ones with disposable income!). I'd give up a lot to get my hands on a Shell Pink Strat. If only it were available as an American Standard!!!!!!!!!!

I suppose if these colors really sold well overall Fender would do more of them. With the current economy they have trimmed the color options to the most popular colors, but they have done limited runs.

For example, they did Surf Green, Fiesta Red, and Sonic Blue American Standards back in 2009 - and I'm sure all 250 of each color sold out relatively quickly. However, I'm also sure Fender sold over 5,000 black American Standards in 2009 worldwide - probably more.

I wanted my new guitar to have a type A personality. My first color choice was Ice Blue, but it only comes on one model that I wasn't interested in. I bought Sunset Metallic and I'm very happy with it. I considered a Custom Shop order but didn't want to wait. If you're willing to wait and spend the extra money, a Custom Shop order will get you what ever you want.

They do offer the American standard in different color choices from time to time, this one even has a nitro finish

i had the same problem. While looking online i fell in love with the vintage color (Surf Green, and Daphne Blue especially) but i also wanted an american strat. So i looked around and started to play the american 62 reissues. I finally decided to get the Surf Green 62 but the discontinued the model. Luckily i was able to buy a used one.

I think fender uses the vintage color on the mexican series so they will sell a bit better.

You had me rushing over to the fender site to see if the were doing 60's in shell pink again. Now I'm gutted because they don't. I should have bought the one I played back in 04 instead of my American standard. Oh well, some day hopefully

i got an american standard in white years ago and it turned a tan looking color and i brought it to my friendy auto paint shop MACCO and they painted it perfectly for $150 ina light blue "daphne" super gloss color so my total investment on this american standard is now $1150 not bad considering what custom shop stuff goes for and i can say it is all mine and im can say it is original 1 off ,,,, go for it it is well worth looking into it

I have two MIM Strats one back and one in agave blue which I love partly becausevthat color is no longer available.

The FSR CAR US Standard deserves an EMG DG20 pickup set!
