Hi everybody,

Had an American standard in sienna sunburst rosewood and sold it. Then bought a deluxe check Strat, 2009 model, with the scn and sold it again. Just ordered the classic player 50's Strat and can't wait to get her!!! I think it's the one that will need the less thing to be changed so as to be signature Strat !!! American great but looks not vintage at all, the deluxe vneck a bit heavy and scns a tiny more 'modern' than I'd like. I hope this is going to be the one. You know what I'd really like? The am STD series to come in two options (esthetic only) : one fifties like and one modern. I'd love a fifties like American STD Strat. I guess I'm close with the cp50. What do you think about her?

The current American Deluxes had a compound radius neck which makes chording and bending a playing pleasure at heart's delight.

American Standards use a regular 9.5" radius, though I believe Fender can eventually offer a Factory Special Run of the guitar with the compound neck option.

Over the years the California guitar giant produced FSR versions of their most popular guitars and basses, incorporating an unique feature set found only on specific high-end production version and Custom Shop models.

The most recent FSR American Standard Stratocaster boasted Vintage Noiseless pickups and Clapton electronics. Recently they released an FSR American Standard Strat in Mercedes Blue with Texas Special pickups.

Great ! I think that the fsr with the vn pickups would be a dream. It's almost impossible though to get one like these in Greece!!! Not even big stores in Europe have it as far as I can search. I hate flat radius. I totally understand why people like it and it's really a big deal but surely not for my hands. I hope the cp50 will be good for me and if I change to vn pickups or kinman blues, it'll be a dream. Thanks a lot for your information. Greetings from Greece...

If you're unable to find the FSR active US Standard in Greece, contact your local Fender dealer.

Personally I opt for the ash-bodied version with the gorgeous cherry sunburst finish and the all maple neck option. The alder body/Blizzard Pearl finish/rosewood neck combo is nice, too...

Just found the fsr. I saw the specs and again, I'm not covered. I'd love the same, without the EC electronics, with 500k pots, and vintage tuners. Oh, and a single ply pickguard. So I guess my CP 50 is going to be 1.closer to what I want out of the box, and 2. Totally what I want if I throw on it the vn pickups and pots + kluson type vintage tuners. So with 660+ about 200 in parts I've got exactly what I want plus a lightweight body and don't forget: The great CUSTOM SHOP DESIGNED neckplate !!!

Greetings from Greece !!! Γειά σου φίλε !!!

The CP50 already has vintage style locking tuners, DONT CHANGE THEM..Also has 57/62 pickups that sound great, better than the vintage noiseless in my Deluxe Players Strat. I own both, the CP50 will stand up to most American Strats short of the CS offerings and the higher end stuff.

For a true '50s Strat sound with more beef and attitude, stick a set of Fat '50s single-coils in your CP50s.

Image

These over-wound single-coil pickups are slightly hotter than the CS 54's, they're the same pickups used on the superstrat-style Showmaster series designed by former Senior Master Builder Gene Baker, founder and CEO of Baker guitars.

Image

Fender no longer produces Showmasters, the last batch of these superstrats were made at the Cort factory in Korea.

The CS Fat '50s can also be matched with a Seymour Duncan TB-4 "Jeff Beck" Trembucker for a screaming fat lead sound.

Hi,

I actually heard this set on a friend's American deluxe vneck. They are great and really one of the most vintage sets I ever heard, but if I decide to change my cp50's stock set, it'll be for a noiseless set like vn s or kinman blues, as I'm most of the time gigging in places that aren't made for gigs and the noise is really annoying. With my deluxe vneck I had no noise, but as I previously said I sold it because of other reasons. Anyway, the set you are suggesting is really really great and vintage sounding.

Greetings from Greece...

I got the CP's 50's on the weekend and haven't been able to put it down. You have made a great choice if you're going through with it. Just note, if you have a wife/girlfriend, she may not see you for a while haha.

All the best,

Jon

Hi,

Already ordered her. Waiting for her on Friday or the beginning of next week. Cleaned her room, warming the tubes and waiting for the box to appear on my door !!! I guess she'll be a keeper. Still thinking about the elusion tuners and kinmans or vintage noiseless though... We'll see. I hope she is lightweight, cause my other two Strat where medium to heavy weight (ash). Thanks Jon for the reply.
Greetings from Greece...
