I got an American Standard in Sienna Sunburst last week. When I first got it I thought the $1,149.00 price was because of the better finish, but looking at the specs on the web site, where it lists the numbers for the finish, it says... (747) Ash.

Does that mean my guitar has an Ash body?

Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, the Sienna Sunburst finish was only available with an ash body.

Hi bcalvanese: transparent finishes cost more because you can't do a simpler/cheaper solid undercoat and you have to use the visually better lumps of wood, for looks' sake. 'Bursts often cost more because there is again more work in a three color process. Ash costs more... because it does (out there in the world of timber).

And Sienna Sunburst costs more simply because it is the prettiest. In my completely neutral, unbiased opinion.

...Here's mine:

Yep - the Sienna 'bursts get the "double price bump" for the trans finish and the ash body (if you check on the web the regular 2-color and 3-color bursts get a smaller bump for the trans finish).

They are very pretty, as you can see by the others who have posted their Strats in the thread.

Enjoy the guitar!!

Fender should offer the Sienna Burst finish on the American Standard basses as well, especially the maple-neck Precisions. The Tele could also benefit of this option.

Thanks everyone.

Nice pics too.

Could it be possible that mine has a one piece body?

I cant find a seam line anywhere on it.

Thanks.
