I have a 1965 Strat, certified original. Made just prior to the CBS takeover. I have had offers from 14,000 to 60,000. Could someone give me an idea what it is worth? Condition is very good.
Thanks.

You would probably be better off getting it professionally appraised.

Send it over and I'll appraise it for you, and yes I'll pay for shipping and insurance.

I personally think you should take the $60,000 offer. I don't think it will get any better than that.

Why don't you post some pics. It's been awhile since I've seen a 65 strat in very good condition.

The vintage market has gotten crazy fast. It was not long ago that I could have gotten a '63 for less then 3 grand. Now the same guitar is priced at 20 grand. Where is that flux capacitor at so I can go back to the future.

According to Vintage Guitar price guide 2008;
1965 common color $20,000-$35,000
1965 rare color $35,000-$45,000
1965 sunburst w/ F-plate$13,000-$20,000
based on Excellent cond with original hardware in original case.
Don't sell it. Keep it and play it!!

What I'd like to know is:

How/who/what certified it as original?

Do you have a official certificate? I can't say I've ever seen such a thing. And if it was certified, why wasn't it appraised at the same time?
