Hi Fender Family , a couple of my friends both have the 1989 Eric Clapton Stratocaster with the Lace sensor pickups and TBX ,, they were both purchased on the same day in 1989 for their birthdays and its been years but they say they now both have a little trouble with a crakle sound in the jack area so they say , but i am wondering if anyone else has a 1989 Eric Clapton Stratocaster with the lace sensor pickups all factory since 89 and if they have any problems with theirs also ? i tried checking fender specs to see if maybe there was a problem or recall with the electronics for that year and would appreciate all the advice i can get on this matter ,,, Thank You Sincerly from D.Faze

Electronic might need cleaning. The guitars are over 20 yrs old.

I also own an 89 Fender EC model and I have never had the slighest issue with it at all. But considering it is 20 plus years, a good cleaning is probable in order. I would take out the jack and make sure the plug still fits in in properly, it may just be worn, need cleaning, or may have gotten bent a little. One of these three should take care of it...consider that the input jacks on some strats are over 50 years old and still work it is probably just in need of a good clean. FWIW.
