Just wondering how the owners like it. I`m thinking about making that my next Strat and I`m going to look at the specs and what pups come with it. Is there any hum from them like you get from single coils ?
Just looked at the specs and I see it comes with noiseless pups so I guess that answers my question about the hum issue.

My EC Strat is my "Desert Island" strat...If you can have only one, it gets my vote...I love the V shaped neck, the tone is great, the body cuts are a little deeper on the back and the front is shaved a bit more than say an American Standard, And the boost comes in extremely handy...very versitile guitar. And if God plays one it can't be all bad...but I just saw he does his own laundry (comendable, but shameful they video'd him while doing it? What is the value to society for us knowing that?)

Enjoy

T2

It is the most played guitar in my stable... and yes, if I had to choose the "one" the E.C. would be it. It's a very comfortable guitar, and with the tone controls, you can get any thing from a tele like twang, to a growling humbucker...

I love my '05 Clapton as well. It can cover a lot of ground. Definitely the go to girl in the stable.

I'm a huge fan of the v neck. It feels right to me.

Try a few out and see how you like them.

How would a secondhand Clapton strat compare to a new american standard or american special of the same value?
I know the pickups have changed over the years but are the newer clapton strats better than the earlier model?

which Clapton Strat are you guys referring to though?

The Custom Shop Clapton Strat? which runs in the $3,000 range.

Or the basic Eric Clapton Strat? which runs for about $1,600.

What are the big differences between the 2 if there is any differences?

I was lucky enough to snag a ltd ed. clapton in daphne blue and i cannot put it down. i bought the first clapton i saw in town back in 1988, and i have played every brand you can play. the EC is simply the best there is. period. get one, whether it be a CS, artist or even good used. any year. the lace sensors are great, as are the noiseless. just get one- you will never look back

I played a regular production ($1500) Clapton Strat yesterday at Guitar Center. Other than the neck I found it fairly average and felt that my highly modified MIM Standard Strat (SCN pickups, Greasebucket tone circuit, CTS pots, CRL switch, Schaller locking tuners) sounded and played just as well if not better. I did not like the feel and sound of the TBX pot. The Mid-boost was Ok but my Fulldrive 2 MOSFET is capable of a wider range of tones with the SCNs. Maybe the Custom Shop version is better, but I don't have the money to find out and I sure wouldn't spend the money on the production version.

I own a '01 Candy Green EC with gold Lace Sensors. It's my go to guitar. Of all the guitars I own it is the most useful of the lot.

I hightly recommend them. I can't speak for the Noiceless pickups, but I do love my EC Strat.

one word-Clapton.
get the clapton, if you haven't already. i have had the productions since 1988, when they came out. several of them. i have had a todd krauss masterbuilt clapton in mercedes blue with aaa flame neck(second link photo). my current love is the 2010 ltd. ed. daphne blue (see first photo link)- they all feel and play about the same-production, masterbuilt, artist series, etc. you cannot go wrong if you are into strats with this guitar. it does it all.
