Hi guys
I traded my Gibson LP Studio for this Stratocaster plus some cash. Can anyone help me identify it.
By the S/N Z7020298 it's a 07/08 american. Can you tell me any more?
Here's a link to pictures.

Thanks

Hi RoadKing: thank you for your PM. And for your confidence - though I'm really not the most expert around here at this sort of thing!

I simply am not sure what it is, because to my eye the elements don't add up. For starters, is the hardware actually black, or does it just look that way in the photos?

A modern American neck (walnut trussrod insert) but two modern string trees instead of one. Huh? And I'm trying to remember when Am Standards last had gold logos on the headstock? If it's not an Am Std neck - what is it?

A "vintage" colour - I presume that's Surf Green? And a single ply backplate with what looks like a vintage RI trem block visible through the very non-vintage single letterbox string access hole. How odd. And round the front a three-ply eleven hole pickguard - and again I'm scratching my head to remember Fender issuing pickguards in that highly aged color.

I'm only too happy to be corrected but till then the word "Partsocaster" is hovering before my eyes. Nuttin wrong with that so long as you weren't told otherwise when you parted with your LP Studio for it.

Anyone seeing it differently?

Cheers - C

That one sure is strange. It has two string trees like a late 90s/early 2000s American Standard/Series, but the Standard/series went to one string tree way before 2007. Early Highway ones had a headstock similar to this with two string trees but that changed in 2006, and I don't believe the early highway ones were ever offered in Surf green. Looks like a partsocaster to me

looks to be an American Standard neck with a VRI body. most likely C60s or CP60s, whichever came in Surf Green. can't remember.

Hi chanman: the problem with the neck is not only the two trees but the gold logo.

Far as the body is concerned, neither the C'60s nor CP'60s has been done in Surf Green. That's a Classic '50s color as well as being found on the AVRI '57. None of which matches the plastics.

So it's more than just a body to neck refit. It's a whole lot of different parts.

Assuming that logo is legit, that is...

Cheers - C

just looking at it i would think that it is a 62 or 57 Reissue body (the vintage bridge and saddles and the color, also i am assuming its american) that has its neck changed with an american standard. It could be a partcaster but the best way to find out is look at the serial number on the pots and stuff

Thanks for all the feedback, I remember emailing someone at Fender last year with a S/N and I got a reply that had all the details of the original build. Does anyone know this email?
Thanks again

Yeah but an American Standard from 2007 should have 1 string tree not 2.

Which model did have 2 trees? Maybe the previous owner just added the second tree.

the only model that had 2 string trees in 2007 was the Highway one but it had a large headstock. Like I said the pre-2006 Highway ones had small headstocks and 2 string trees

The guy I got this from said he thought it was a special proto type for the Highway 1

A '57 wouldn't have 11 screws in the fingerboard would it?

The highway one series came out in the early 2000s, like sometime between 2001-2003. So how would a 2007 be an early prototype for a model that came out 6-4 years prior?
