what kind of music do you play? Blues? The JM has a huge mids, so if you like mids go with the JM especially if you are playing the blues. I always thought the Fralins were too hot. IMHO.

Opposite. The JM has "scooped" mids.

The Mayer strat will sing on the clean tones and likes to be driven in blues music as well. It would suit you fine. But your other option isn't bad either.

The John Mayer neck is a lot fatter than an American Standard, so you might ant to play one and figure out if you like the bigger neck profile first. I own one, and it was of the best strats I have ever played/owned hands down
