Well, I'm changing my pickups. Anyone have any experience with the Dimarzio Cruisers? I have two neck models for the neck and middle and a bridge FOR the bridge.I'm trying to keep the sound a little thick on top' but with some glassiness too. I was wondering if 250k pots would be fine, or would they be too muddy? Tone Caps? .022 or .047? I'm only asking because I found out about the new 22 fret necks and the pickguard issue. Taking the neck off is kind of a PITA, so I want to get it all sorted out before I have to remove the pickguard several times. Still love the guitar, and having the extra fret helps out when I'm up at the dusty end. 8)

Andy Timmons uses the cruiser bridge pickup in the middle and neck positions of his signature model. His tone is well... perfect... Listen to his album "resolution" if you are not already familiar with it...

The wiring diagram on the DiMarzio site seems to indicate that 500k pots work best with the Cruisers. They suggest .022mfd or .033mfd tone caps for a traditional Strat wiring scheme.

Yes, I've heard it, and it is a great album. Andy Timmons has Magnificent tone. Love it. I'll be using DP186's in the neck and middle and a DP187 in the bridge. I think that a 500k pot will work as they are all humbuckers, But I don't want it too bright in the bridge. Thanks Arjay, I might give the .033 a shot. I've never tried one before.

Most of mine are .022's. Let us know how it sounds.

Well I couldn't wait this afternoon, and I installed the Neck and Middle DP186 Cruisers. I still have the Atomic Humbucker in the bridge, But I have the DP187 bridge Cruiser and a SSS pickguard on the way from GC.com,It should be here next week. I hooked up the two I have to the standart Greasebucket that came w/ the guitar, and The Cruisers sound great, Dead Quiet, and still stratty. Long sustain on the neck pup W/ some O'Drive on it. BUT, I do have to change the pots to 500k because I think it's a little too dark for my tastes. I thought I could get away with not changing all that gear, But I will have to swap it out. Oh Well, I do have an idea how this is going to sound, And I am looking forward to getting everything I need to complete the project. 8)

Sounds swell, Marvin.

I really like my Virtual Vintage DM's -- punchy and ballsy, yet quiet as a church mouse.

Pics when you get it all dialed in, eh?

Rawk on!
