Would like to build a solid-body Hardtail Strat in HH configuration(on a budget!) and wondering if Bullet or Affinity Squiers are routed for HH setup or if a new one would be available already setup that way(poor boy's Big Apple)...Thanks !!!

Yes they are routed for HH as the cavity is an HSH set up. They also come in Hardtail or Trem versions, SSS, HH, HSS so pick your choice and there you go.

I will add that they do make great upgrade projects as the following pics show.

These are two projects which one Bullet strat was the cannibalized donor.
The neck is on the black stratopartster, it was completely refinished, frets leveled, dressed etc...

On this one, the body of the Bullet is once again used for a complete rebuild, the neck is an old neck which was also completely refinished, frets dressed, etc... The set up is a bit different as for an HSS set-up I prefer a coil split in addition to a Master Volume and a Master Tone ( TBX ). The Decal is actually a reconfigured Fender Acoustic decal so " IT IS NOT A LEGAL OFFICIAL FENDER DECAL ". I say this because at this point I have no intention in selling either guitars, but if I did, both of the decals would be removed. They are strictly for my own private amusement and do not imply that anyone should copy what I do.

As you can see, the HT bridge is just resting on the body, the pickguard comes from another Strat guitar and needs a bit of routing to fit around the bridge plate. The electronics as of yet have not been soldered, as I'm still deciding wether to use 22 gauge cloth wire instead of the standard plastic coated wire. A new Bone nut is cut but has not been fitted to the slot, as soon as I'm off the forum, there is quite a bit of tweaking left to be done.

Stay tuned, I will post two threads in the next couple of days relating to these builds from start to finish.

Nice project you have going there! Thanks for the insight on Bullet bodies, thought they were routed that way but I wasn't 100% sure. Best wishes!!!

I pilfered it from my stash of stickers, after thinking about and against, ordering a pirate Fender Logo, I decided same as the other build that I would customise this Fender Acoustic sticker to fit.
It still needs a little bit of touch up but...
Well Ya'll will have to go to my Stratopartster I and II build thread to get the full scoop from start to almost done... 8)

Hi there..
Guitar projects are fun, but the cost can get out of control if your not careful.

Have you looked at the new Blacktops yet?
I know it has a tremolo and you were looking for a hardtail, but if you add springs (Use five) and adjust the tension to keep the tremolo grounded to the body it is as good as a hardtail.
I have seen then for sale as lower as 425.00, with that it has the HH config you want, and you get the warranty as well.

Here's a link to a brand new one of e-bay for 425.00 in deep red with all the goodies.(Gig bag and tools)

Looks to be a winner to me.

I know what you mean on controlling costs! Blacktop series is really nice stuff, what I'm doing is trying to build a Fat Strat, Big Apple Strat, and P/J hybrid for the guys in my band, keeping the vintage sound and appearance up while keeping the costs down. Willing to experiment w/various pups, caps, etc. to keep the sound period-correct w/a little "pop" that other local bands don't have...tall order to fill, but should be a fun learning process all the same. These will be replacing a Tele, and off-the-shelf Ibanez lead and bass rigs. Well, maybe the Tele will be "supplemented"...We cover a variety of SoRo,Classic Rock, and Outlaw country plus originals, so versatility is a must!!! Thanks to all !!! 8) BTW, "FLASHBACK" is the moniker I've bestowed on my personal HSS project, kinda like Skynyrd meets windowpane...LOL!!!
