I just got a Mexican Stratocaster but don't know much about it.
Did I make a good buy. I paid $175.00 and it was used although in great shape.
Based on the serial number MX412855 it was made in 2004/2005
Black body with a parchment white pick guard in mother of pearl design and a rosewood fret board.
It looks good and sounds better than the no name piece of crap I had.

There are dozens of Mexican Strat models. If you want to know more about then you have to post some pics so we can tell you what model it is or call Fender customer service and give them the serial number.

But MIM Fenders regardless of model are better than named and no name pieces of crap.

I don't know if it was a good buy. It depends on what it is and what you paid for it. I'm not a mind reader.

Glad you like it!!!

Thanks for the welcome and the reply. I wasn't sure what I was getting into as far as purchasing a Mexican made strat but I've always wanted a stratocaster and I don't play but want to learn. I had the pick guard changed from just a parchment white to the parchment white mother of pearl and it looks so old school. The place I got it from has one more like it only in a very light blue color with a plain parchment pick guard and a rosewood fret board. All I know is I'm hooked...

I'd buy MIM strats all day long at $175 !!!!!!! :D They are $450 - $500 new....so you did good, REAL good. I have never played a "bad" MIM Fender.......but some are really great guitars. If it plays well and sounds to suit you, you now know everything about it that matters ;) Good deal, friend, and good luck.......now you will just want another one, and another one............

Thanks for e informations I feel good about the purchase and the store I got it from has one more MM Strat it's a light blue with parchment white pick guard and rosewood fret board and the paint job reminds me of a blue 57 corvette. Beautiful and I think I want that one as well.

As long as the frets aren't worn "too" bad and the neck is straight ( press on the E string at the 1st fret and the 12th fret at the same time, the string should touch all the frets in between, check the other E also) I would say that is a great bargain. 8)

very good deal on a MIM strat. MIM of the 04 to 05 time frame are great guitars...I have a 50th Anniversary Golden Strat that has replaced my '82 57 Vintage Reissue as my main player.

I just picked up a MIM players deluxe strat and it's badass. I really like it, and I even liked it better than a couple of American made strats that I tried. It's my #1 now.

If it plays well - then it was a good deal!
