Put it on a tele, yeah. Or even a goldtop P90'd LP.

Please don't let it anywhere near my Vintage Synchronized Strat.

As much as I like the Bigsby on my old Gretsch Tennessean I don't think that the way a Bigsby functions would make any improvement over the standard Strat vibrato system. The Bigsby doesn't have the same travel as the Strat vibrato and unless you install a roller bridge you may be looking at a lot of tuning problems. It may look OK from a novelty point of view but I believe that the negatives of installing a Bigsby far outweigh the positives.

8) Ive Owned all the Classic Axes at one time or another, and owned a Guitar Store 6 years, So---. I just got a Blacktop Strat, -- after adding Another Spring [4 springs total] , and adjusting the Claw screws, it Floats and stays in tune! [using EB yellow 10s] I've put the Bigsby EZ mounts, and a heavy brass roller bridges, on an Epi SG, an Epi LP Studio, Epi Wilshire, and a Epi 335 Dot Studio. Great Sustain!! They STAY in tune, if you install the strings correctly on the tuner posts,[see D'Addario video] and use nut grease. I have 7 Squire Strats, modded out, and if ya Grease the nut etc. They Stay in tune! I got a B. Blond Squire Tele with a WD Music Bigsby Tele adaptor, and It stays in tune! Same Caveats apply, string install etc. I don't Know that the Fender System is Superior, but, if ya Dial it in right , it Works. So does the Bigsby. As far as Looks, I havent seen a Strat w/Bigsby I don't suppose it would look BAD, But, Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder.

It is still a huge piece of hardware, no matter which way one looks at it, anything that gets in the way of your hand movement is a hindrance, I still stay by my original post that the Fender is a superior design, much more versatile and if desired you can block the trem, remove the trem arm when not in use, adapt the spring tension to the string gauge and it is unobtrusive.

It really isn't so much about looks as it is about functionality, even though aesthetics for the better description is a close second.

I have noticed in the last couple years that a lot of the older designs, guitar and hardware have returned, much of which leaves me puzzled since much of it had become obsolete just by new technology.

Oh and to the earlier poster, Mr. CP, close minded...hardly and Bigsby is not a new system and OK by me if people love it, I don't. I dislike Danelectro's too but I'm not going to tell Page that it doesn't work for him, these things don't work for me.
As far as Millions of Strats... Not with Bigsby's, I have 4 right now, 3 with vintage trem and 1 with a hardtail. Leo Fender's design is still to be improved upon, 50 years later, yet the demand for a conventional strat spells it out....

If your saying the bigsby is trumped by the fender strat trem. Then isn't the fender strat trem trumped by the Floyd Rose as it locks the strings in and doesn't go out of tune. So by you posts the fender trem is inferior and should be thrown away banished to pre 80's guitars?

That's funny a Floyd Rose should be brought up... because I was thinking how if this topic were about putting a dirty great Floyd Rose on a Strat, then I would be disgusted. This made me realise that, indeed, beauty is in the eye of the beholder; I understand how a Bigsby Strat could disagree with some people. Hell, I didn't even think about the concept until a few months ago, but now I'm in love. And of course, I'm not trying to change the Strat, I love my Strat, and plan to own many more, but this one time in particular I wanted to create something unique. And it turned out amazingly.

I do have pictures if anyone would be interested in seeing a fully functional Bigsby-fied Fender Stratocaster!!
