hi, i found this guitar in my basement a few years ago. it was a yellow wood strat-like fender with white pickguard and it said "fender Professionnal" on the head where it should have said "stratocaster". Its set up exactly like a strat, but has a different head, the head looks more like a larger telecaster head. at the time i was not into guitars at all so i thought nothing of it being odd, but now id like to know more about it. does anyone know of anything like this being made by fender? is it a knock off, or a clone? any info would be great. thanks.

The only Fender Professional I know of is a line of amps.

A Google search and a run-through of "The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Electric Guitars" produced no Fender that came with the word "Professional" on the headstock, so I'm leaning toward it being a fake.

As for the oversized-Tele-style headstock, it's hard to say without a pic. it could be a neck from a Fender Lead, a homemade shape cut from a Warmoth paddle blank, or maybe a neck from something like a Carvin, a Godin or a late-'90s Jackson Strat clone Or it could be any of a couple dozen weird import Strat copies with a new decal.

Got any pics?

why don't you ask fender? if it is a fender guitar, they would know.

I'd be willing to bet it's some sort of asian copy.
