Thanks. When I First Went Looking To Buy A Guitar They Asked Me If I Wanted Ash Or Alder. I Asked What The Difference Was And They Said Not Much In A Painted Guitar. I Just Wondered Why The Eric. J Would Cost More Then.

OK Here's A Question. Why Do Some Guitars Like The Eric. J Strat Have A Two Piece Ash Body Vs A One Piece Alder Body Like On The Avhr Ri 57 ? What Is The Reason ?

Because they can?

Sung to the chorus of, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps": "While my guitar ferments and reeks."

Are the holes for weight relief?

The two woods take to stain differently and, with ash, you have an esthetics quality that might be preferred. The two guitars you used as example are both on the high end of the production line food chain, their specs varying widely from, not only each other, but let's say, an MIA Standard whose wood would be ash for a Sienna Sunburst finish and alder for an SB3 with perhaps a surcharge just for the wood or finish. I've a Deluxe VG in Antique Cherry Burst, and a '57AVHR in SB2, and I'm going to have a good look at those two bodies to see how they were put together. I was not under the impression that the VHR was a one piece affair. That's usually Custom Shop territory. to the best of my knowledge and belief.

[This is really getting good.] Those are some of the holes they used to fill the Albert Hall.

I Have The Two Color Sunburst Finish On The Avhr Ri. It Has To Be One Piece The Way The Grain Looks. Regardless The Tone Is Why I Bought It. I Had Alot Of Other Choices. It Beat Them All.

Bought it for the neck as well as the electronics. Have an '89 Clapton, an '08 Deluxe VG-V-neck, and a Gilmour NOS.
