Hey krazyglue -

where can I start with the 08 Strat? It's all around beautiful. It definately is a lot clearer sounding than my 60's RI (MIM), duh, right? But, its so much more versital than a lot of Strats I've played. You can dial in Blues, Classic Rock, to harder Alternative. I play in Dropped D sometimes, and let me tell you, it can handle it with ease. Usually strats have some buzz in that tuning or you know you just can't touch it. Well, you can man, nooo problem. So, pros? The lighter undercoat is gorgeous. I have 3T sunburst. The pickups are a little hotter. Tuning is a plus, when you use trem. So, buy it, it will be your next #1. trust. peace bro.

rock n roll

Matt

Dude, what you are getting is my dream guitar. I have been looking at new guitars for atleast a year now and i have finally made my mind up. When i saw the new strats i immediately fell in love with the sienna sunburst. When i have enough money i am going to go out and get me one of those bad boys. I take it yours will be ash bodied? Do you know what type of ash it is, swamp ash or hard ash?

I just bought an American Standard Strat last week. I don`t think you`ll be disappointed if you get one. I have a `69 Gibson Les Paul and a `63 Gretsch and neither one of them play or sound like the Strat.

Two weeks ago I got me a 2007 american standard, black with maple neck(clapton's blackie strat), with hardshell case and all the goodies for $640.00 at Guitar Center. :) They were having this huge clearance sale and deals below cost. :)

I have been looking at a new American strat standard that looks identical
to the pic you posted.. I have gone back on 3 visits just to play it, the price
has droped 3 time since I first looked at it on Dec 28th ...It Started @ $1020 and is now @ $799 hardcase and all the trimings !! due to the new release for 2008 i Guess but at that price it will be mine very soon.
Anywho... you wil NOT be disappointed .. Its the best.
I already have a 1996 Am.Standard strat 50th w/ maple neck and it is the smoothest best playing ever...
What i am saying is, Go for it ... It wont let you down.

My L&M guitar shop had about 5 of the new model strats and teles and I gotta tell you I wasn't all that impressed. The ones I tried were mostly warped and had buzz coming from the bridge. And for some reason, they felt flimsy to me, similar to the Gibson SG. Maybe they only received duds, but from what I've played and seen, the only advantage to the new line of fenders is the wicked case it comes with. Plus the new finish shows off finger prints really well... and it drives me nuts. The store probably was all duds though because, well, I live in Canada.... 'Nuff said?

You are making a good choice. I got a 3 tone sunburst maple fret board last week and omg!! I am loving this thing. It sounds beautiful. Also the neck feels really comfortable. Go for it man get it. You'll love it.

I tested it against the Highway One and it won out! I just don't see that great of improvement for the money. Great marketing, but not that great of guitar change. The '07 Highway's are dropping in price at a lot of stores as of now and they make a wiser better purchase in my mind's eye. Especially, if you like to play the blues. Just my opinion, since I was geeked out at first, but after playing them and putting them through their paces--I found it to be more hype than practicallity.

Did you know Fender uses "temp" workers on them in the plant? I live about 20 miles from Corona and it is a real joke around here, but not that funny to me. I guess business is business. I saw one American Strat '08 with a non-matching tunning peg on it! Everyone at the guitar store laughed since none of us had ever seen that before. Can you say quality control?
