Well, I have old strat (something between 1978 and 1981). I'm not the first owner, maybe second or third. So somebody lost it's certificate.
My strat is not in original paint, and original parts are neck, body, two pickups, neck plate, tuners. Also, there are no dealer or some Fender shop in my country.
I'd like to recover it's certificate. Is it possible? =)

Thanks.

Did those old Fenders even have C.O.A.'s ??????? Back then, they were not made anywhere but the good old USA.

Correct - there were no certificates of authenticity back then for any regular production guitars. The possible exception might have been the 25th Anniversary Strats; they might have had a certificate. However, I'll admit I just don't remember if they did or did not have certificates.

Yes, those 1979 Anniversaries were the first to have a Certificate.

Before that, one might consider the "hang tag" to be a sort of certificate. It had the model number and quality inspection initials and stamps, but usually not the serial number, IIRC. It's cool if the original owner kept it with the guitar so that subsequent owners would have it.

Sorry - I just re-read my post and can see where it would confuse you. When I said "I can't remember" I was referring only to the 1979 25th Anniversary Strats - and Orvilleowner confirmed that the 25th Anniversary Strats were the first Fenders to have a certificate.

The regular production Strats would only have a hang tag and an owners manual. They did send you a wallet card back when you registered the guitar; I think I still have the wallet card for my '79 Lead II hanging around in an old wallet somewhere.

Sorry - I misunderstood the "Hm..." in your post as a question.
