Hello everyone, New to the board but into all types of guitars.. I got a question for the gurus around her regarding a frankenstrat I bought.. A couple guys told me Fender HM strat One said early charvel.. But I cant find another one that even looks like it anywhere.. I really like it and was considering leaving it as is with an ibanez rg550 neck on it and Fender corona neckplate. The original reason I bought it was the 1966 Gibson T top neck pup that was in it...But now I am considering a resto or repaint... Pics coming.. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o4/j ... 1176-2.jpg

Hi jaze70ss,

I'm no expert, but it doesn't look like any Strat body to me. You can see that the original holes in the body for the neck screws, are more narrowly spaced, and were filled and re-drilled for a Strat neck spacing. You can buy the neck plates on eBay, so that doesn't matter as far as identifying it.

I don't know for sure...

But the body shape is indicative of an HM strat, never knew of one that had a vintage style trem...

most that I knew of were HSS and had a locking trem.

It could very well be an early charvel, as well.

hope this helps.
