Are the pickup covers on the Noiseless pickups on this guitar changeable. I want to change colors and have been told pup covers on pickups like the SCN were integral to the pickup and couldn't be removed/changed. Anybody know if this is the same case with the MIM Deluxe Strat?
Thanks!

The MIM Deluxe Players uses Vintage-Noiseless pickups, not Samarium Cobalt. I'm not sure if Fender sells pickup covers for VN pickups.

Why not taking a quick look at eBay?

Right, thanks. My question was, is the cover of the Vintage integral to the pickup itself as are the SCN's? I'm trying to avoid taking something apart in vain, when what I want to do isn't even possible. Thanks for the reply though.

The VN pickup covers, like the SCN's and Lace Sensors, are not field-replaceable. And the tip-off is, Fender doesn't offer stand-alone replacement covers for them in its accessory line like they do for their conventional single-coil pickups.

Thanks, Arjay. And drats to that. Maybe I'll try some lacquer paint?

Better to try and hook up with someone like-minded who also wants to swap and has the opposite colors from yours. I wouldn't be too trusting of lacquer-based paint on those plastic parts (enamel too for that matter).

Best of luck, HTH

Although I know what you say is true, when I purchased a set of SCNs for my MIM Standard Strat, there was a complete set of extra pickup covers (same color) included in the factory sealed box. Still scratching my head over that.

Was this a new factory-sealed set, Bill?

I would think so. It had that heavy duty clear tape on the top flap. It was applied too neatly to be anything but factory.

I wanted to change the pup covers on my Dlx Plyrs with Vintage Noiseless pups, to black with the noiseless writing. I noticed that there were no separate covers like this for sale anywhere, so I called Fender. They said that the covers were glued on and separate covers weren't available, and the pups could be damaged trying to remove the covers. I didn't try to remove the covers, so I didn't try to verify. Although, the Vintage Noiseless pups do come in black or white sets, so you could get a set with black covers.

Thanks for all of the info, folks. I'll investigate the paint and maybe pick up a set of pups the color I want.
