I just paid 1k for an american strat. I noticed in the guitar case there were white tags that said "assembled in mexico" with a signature on it.

I paid for what I thought was american quality control and assembled in america.

Is this how american standard strats are made now? If so I don't think it's worth the price they are charging. It really isn't american is it?

Show a pic of the tags AND the guitar.....I wanna see this! The American Fenders are indeed made in the USA. There was a model years ago called the California Series that was assembled in USA ( had made in USA on the headstock ) from mexican parts.

If it plays well and you like it, does it matter where its made? Its the same as people who only buy American cars but all the electronics are Japanese, so is it really an American car? Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, about the California Strats. The Ensenada plant Mexico didn't start cutting lumber till 98 or 99. So the Cali Strats couldn't be made of Mexican parts as the Mexico guitars were mostly American up till then.
