Is the action too low? Are you talking about fret buzz?

action is essentially the string height above the fretboard. It is set by the saddle height on the bridge and can be affected by the relief in the neck, which can change seasonally with the climate. In some cases overly worn frets can cause buzzing in certain positions. You might consider taking it in to a shop and having a setup done if you are not confortable doing one yourself. They can also advise you of any other issues. There may be a link here to the set up procedure online, I'm not sure.

OK, here it is

Fret buzz not heard through your amplifier is OK :) If your guitar feels good and plays to your liking, ignore the unplugged fret buzz and keep rocking. If it starts to choke out notes or the buzz begins to be audible through the amp, it will be time for adjustment to your setup.
