The good: my Am Dlx HSS Sunset Metallic came today:
Image

The bad, it was damaged. And not from shipping. As soon as I opened the case I could see a huge gash at the top of the body. Someone at the warehouse took this guitar out of it's case and either dropped it or rammed it against something hard. I'm not sure that the picture shows how bad it is. Not only is the finish cracked, the wood is actually flattened at the impact area. I've already called American Musical Supply and gotten a RA#. They have another in stock and will ship it as soon as they get confirmation from UPS that this one is on it's way back. Such a shame, this guitar is beautiful. Before I called, I took a few minutes to decide if I wanted to change colors and I decided this one is exactly what I wanted. Besides the damage, the Low E string buzzes bad, even when open. I was a little surprised at that. Here's the ugly:

Hmmmmm, I wonder how much American Musical Supply is going to knock off the price of this one when they get it back?

It's half way reliced, such a deal ...

It's no fun finding a newly shipped guitar to be damaged.

I couldn't believe how pissed I was. If it was shipping damage I would probably not be as upset. Thinking about how someone took this guitar out of it's case in the warehouse and hit it this hard is disturbing to me. I may need a little sipping brandy tonight.

And yet another "scratch 'n' dent" sadly wends its way to the bargain basement.

Tragic!

That color really pops; glad that AMS is going to make it right.

However, it could have possibley been damaged in shipping. Sometimes the guitar isn't sitting properly in the case and moves around causing damage during shipping even though the box and case are intact. I've seen this more often with headstock damage, but occasionally with body damage.

That's a sin to damage such a beauty, the idiot that gouged that should be hung up by the dingle-bobs.Then again you could give it a couple of more bashes and I bet you could tack another 100 bucks on the price and sell it as a relic.

Wow, that's one hell of a ding. You can almost understand, if not forgive, small scratches or a small ding - sometimes it just happens. However I would class what you have there as serious damage. Man would I be pissed if that arrived at my door.

I'm glad your getting a replacement without any hassle.

They didn't give me any trouble on the phone, actually I was quite upset and told the girl I realized she didn't damage the guitar but damn!! I going to keep a close watch on my credit card for the next month and make sure no surprise charges show up. This one is already with UPS heading back to NJ. I hope to post another NGD in the near future.
