I like the picture of the guitar being towed...classic.

I'm not a fan of faux-relic myself. Preferring the relic look is a bit like preferring Fat Elvis to Thin Elvis. There's an argument to be made for both of course, but it's a matter of taste...

If he's going to strip off the poly, he might as well practice some relicing techniques on the Squier as it is.

It is a very good idea to get as much practice as possible using a Squier before moving on to a more valuable guitar.

It's scientific theory that it would take 1,526 years of continuous playing to naturally relic a poly finish Squier to look like SRV's #1

It could be argued that this is the only "true" way to relic a guitar.. you'd better start playing. :D

You can find dozens of these any day of the week on Ebay.

With so many bandsaw bozos "practicing" this technique, you'd think that a least a few of them would be happy with the outcome.

Of course they aren't happy with their early results ... that's the thing about practicing.

It takes many tries to get it right.

They should at least try to find as many pictures of well-worn guitars before they attack their guitars with sandpaper, screwdrivers, and keys.

I have a Chinese Fender P-Bass that I rubbed off part of the Logo (MIC) and sanded on the body and neck. Then I got an idea: every person who came here to play music had to leave a mark on it. So a screw driver, small hammer, banging it against a wall, knife marks, and on and on. Each person has their own relic signature. I replaced all the electronics with USA parts and the nut is a graphite one. It plays great and is starting to look "road worn"!! LOL!

My son tried to help me relic one of my G & L's when we were playing in a room one night with a low ceiling and he somehow managed to stick the headstock into the ceiling fan when he was placing the strap around his neck. Probably would have worked better had the fan been on high speed. Ha.......Ha......
