Good stuff Newwt! 8)

I remember you mentioning this build in a thread last year. Good to see it come to fruition.

Looking forward to how this progresses!

Well after several cups a joe, and doing a quick recording with the Tex-Mex pups I changed out the two loaded pickguards. Really easy switch over, took about 20 minutes.
So here are the finished pixs. And the other dog in the previous pics is Schatzi.

Now its time to do some playing. I checked it out real quick and the sounds are amazing, let everyone know what I think after awhile of enjoyment. Till then..........Newwt

Wow, I am almost pulling the trigger on the FAT50/CS69/SSL5 set or a Chris Klein S-8 Handwound set. Now you got me thinking all over again for those EMG DG20s. Please get us some samples playing shine on, numb and other classics.
What do you other guys think ? Mine is a FSR American Standard in Mercedes-Blue, but the Texas Specials that came stock to in are not getting into my soul.
GASSSS someone help!

OK, well I simply love these pickups. Much fuller sounding so here is a link to some sound samples labled Tex-Mex and then DG-20, they were both done with the exact same settings on my amp and board. Guitar vol. levels were also the same, only changes were with the tone levels due to the different setups(Tex-Mex tone vs DG-20 SPC & EXP controls) Tell me what ya-all think.

The other sound clip was done with my LP and my 57 AVHR. So here ya go:

Hmmm...the Tex-Mex sound is very low even with my volume all the way up!

Where did you put the battery for the pickups?

Thats what I'm saying, everything was done at the same levels for a good comparison between the 2. The DG-20's are louder. As for the battery it goes under the pickguard, at the bottom tone pot. When u need to change it, just pull the lower p/g screws.

Theres a good video of it on youtube just search EMG DG-20, its the one put out by EMG

My woman would wholly agree with that statement. I get on her nerves a lot. She's not a CAR strat fan though, so who cares?
