Well its time to get started with my David Gilmour Red Strat build. I'm starting out with a Jimmie Vaughan Sig Series Strat due to the fact that its pretty much period correct for what I'm going for, Vintage style body(8 hole pickguard) Vintage tuners, trem, and neck.
I've received the DG-20 loaded pickguard and the guitar should be here tomorrow,(23 Feb 2011) So for now I must switch over to the Vintage 8 hole p/g and ditch the pearl 11 hole, so lets get started.

So here it is.

Heres the p/g its going into, with shielding.

And now back togeather

And put away till the guitar gets here

Sorry, no cats, but I do have 2 Dogs who will share in this. As far as adult beverages go I shall be consuming at least several dozen during this build/review thread. Cause in the words of Frank Zappa "$@!&# and beer,$@!&# and beer, $@!&# and beer" And for all the ladies out there, please forgive me, I mean no disrespect, just one of my favorite songs.

WORD, Litenin'!

Already added to the in-famous build thread listing... the thread of all threads for inspiration... and rainy days... and pet lovers...

Ah newwt, it seems that LEDGE is a derivative of LEDGEND, and commonly utilized in youth-speak by youngsters of British origin. Or so I'm told. I only learnt it quite recently and here was a possibility to chuck it out there!

Anyhow, take it away, Sir!

Ah and did she confirm my theory? Is it a short for "legend"?

I am most curious.

OK, well here we go again, day 2 of the build. UPS got here around 9 30 am (shocked me so early) with my BIG BOX OF GOODIES!!!!! So lets get started with my first impressions of the Jimmie Vaughan Sig Series. 1st thing was WOW, looks great so I started my inspection of her and let me start by saying fit, finish, and build quality as of right now are A+ So I'll run it down for ya.

1) Body has a very nice finish in the CAR, all components seem nicely assembled, strap locks are a real plus, even though I very seldom stand and play, let alone use a strap this is still a nice addition.

2) Neck is nicely finished, no protruding frets, vintage tuners whitch I perfer, and lightly tinted. I would have liked the tint a little darker but perhaps time will tell. The Soft "V" shaped neck is a little beefer then my 57 AVHR yet still very comfortable.

3) Electronics have a very nice full sound to them and work in all positions, but not the sound I'm looking for so these will come right out (I already see another build comming with these pickups) and the EMG DG-20 being installed.

OK, and now for the pic's

And one of my helpers making sure the floor does'nt get away. King the true king of the castle.

I also went with a Fender Tweed/Red HSC Not a fan of gig bags that come with these MIM's, and am a firm pro-ponent of protecting such investments.

Next step is going to do a quick recording of the Tex-Mex pups and then remove them to install the DG-20's and recrd the same thing for comparision. So untill then, see-ya
