I was wondering if anyone knows when the colours for the MIM and MIA strats are going to be announced? I did some research and some people were saying that the colours are announced before NAMM but NAMM has been and gone and no news of colours. Tbh I dont know how it all works maybe they keep the same colours for a few years?

Fender usually keeps the same colors for several years; they will do a major change to the color options when a new model comes out but it seems like these days they only add a color or two after the guitar has been out for 4 years or so. The current American Standards are currently in their 4th year; they might do some new colors for 2012 (5th year of production). American Deluxes just changed last year so nothing new there. The MIM Standards also changed 2-3 years ago. Artist models are up to the artist themselves - for example the Clapton colors have been pretty much the same since 1988 (green has come and gone a couple of times) but there were several John Mayer limited runs.

There will be limited edition colors; they normally don't get a big "introduction" they just come out.

that's too bad.. i was having a serious look at the new american deluxe strats with the compound radius fingerboards but i'm not keen on any of the colours and that decided it for me.

i would be all over a candy finish though, especially tangerine!

I was lusting after a custom shop tangerine that was on ebay when I decided the new sunset metallic would fit the bill.
