Email your serial number to

They will reply with the information they have

Unfortunately your guitar has an "N9" serial number; emailing Fender's customer relations may not be helpful.

There was a noted serial number mess up in 1990 - some American Standards (and possibly some Strat Plus and Strat Plus Deluxe guitars) were issued with "N9XXXXX" serial numbers instead of "N0XXXXX" serial numbers. Fender's database only goes back to 1993 or so (they got a new computer system and the archived records going back to 1985 were damaged or lost over the years).

At any rate, a "true" 1990 American Standard would have the "modern style" Fender logo in silver outlined in black and would have the serial number on the front of the headstock. A "true" 1999 would have the "vintage style" (or "spaghetti") logo (also in silver outlined in black) and would have the serial number on the back of the headstock.

Pictures would be helpful.
