Help identifying this 70 strat...

Hi

Last week I bought a 70 strat. The sellers says it should be one from 1979.

The serialnumber on neck indicates indead 79. Now I started a new discovery to neck and body stamps but I cannot read them very well....

I see only FSR stamps but they told me that is for QC.

On the neck the stamp is a little bit gone.... See photo, i see something like D8....?

Who can help me? See all the photos...

Nice Strat. Sorry, since the stamps and writing have all faded over the years all I can tell you is that the guitar was made anywhere from 1979 through 1981 since Fender used those S9 serial numbers until they were completely gone.

You might do a search for "Fender guitars and pot codes" or ("potentiometer codes") to try to pin it down a bit closer.

Besides the codes on the potentiometers, look for other codes on the pickups and pickguard. Let us know what you find and perhaps we can narrow down the date.

Correct, look for any stamps or stickers under the pick guard. The dates on the pots will likely give you the closest possible date.

So it from 79! Pots says september 79!

Not September ... earlier in the year.

The pot code 7909 means 9th week of 1979.

I thiink I see 1679 on the pickups which means the 16th week of 1979.
