i bought a "Wilkinson WVP6SBGD 5+1 Hole Contemporary Strat Bridge/Steel Block" to replace the stock synchronized style trem that came with the MIM 2010 hh Strat.

this new bridge has 2 1/8" string spacing on the block and saddles. the string spacing on the stock bridge is 2 1/16 spacing.

i was told the new bridge would drop right in a replace the old one. though to me the 6 screws don't align up perfectly. maybe those 5 oblong holes on the new bridge will allow the correct fit cuz i don't want to drill new holes.

anyone replaced a stock MIM synch trem with a this type of Wilkinson?

Yes, and it fits perfectly on a 01 Powerhouse body.
Mine is 56mm spacing. Nearer 2&3/8".

Get the trem arm fitting sorted out before you even think of putting the thing in the guitar.

if memory serves me, which is doesn't much these days, i think you recommended this bridge?

no need to drill holes, just me eyes playing tricks? silly question i guess as i could just take the old one out and see if this new one will fit correctly -- been a messed up week.

not sure i understand about the trem arm fitting? is that in reference to the 6-holes?

The trem arm is push in, not snap in like the American Deluxe trem arm. So you need to set the tension of it with the trem unit out of the guitar body.

To fit the unit simply place it in position. Fit the pivot screw underneath the low E string, you'll see the rest of them line up.

it lined up - barely.

curious as to how tight one tightens the 6-screws? if i tighten them totally, the trem has ~3.5mm gap with 4 springs.

does one loosen them till its flush with the body, then string it up and adjust via the claw?

didn't see anything on the net for this particular trem

Yeah you don't screw the 6 screws right down. They should be just above the tremplate.
Dunno whats happened for em to barely line up on the guitar. Mine lined up perfectly.

I am considering that exact trem to put in my American Special HSS. Thanks for the posts, I was wondering this also because of the 2 1/16 string spacing now and the 2 1/8 of the new bridge. Glad to see it will work. 8)
