Hi everyone, I'm looking at buying 2 strats (and 1 tele) that have been advertised the same seller for my dad who lost his guitar collection in the recent floods here in eastern Australia. The price I can get all 3 for is borderline bargain/dodgy (Australian strat prices are much higher than in the USA) and I'd appreciate some assistance if at all possible. My head says fake but my heart wants them to be genuine!

The pictures I have aren't particularly clear but I'll post them up anyway. After doing a bit of research it seems that the truss rod always has an inlay but neither of these guitars seem to have one, is that definitive proof of a fake? The serial numbers are also extremely close together which also makes me wonder (Z3059686 and Z3059688, American Standard 2003-2004 if I have done my research correctly).

I've also included a few photos of the tele (just so I don't have to start 2 threads!) The seller can't find the serial on this one so I'm very dubious.

No walnut insert at trussrod end to boot. Fake.

Thanks heaps, I kinda knew it as well but thought I'd ask the question :) Suppose it was better to ask before I bought them rather than after!

Yep I say fake too. I've never seen serial numbers like that. Tuners are wrong too.

Definitely are not Am Strats. Looks like after market necks with fake decals, on Squier or after market bodies. Can't tell about the bridge from the pictures.

As phony as a seven-dollar bill.

(the feet seem authentic enough though......)
